Nervous system regulation · also called window of tolerance

why am I always on edge

Regulation is keeping your physiological arousal inside the range where you can still think clearly — not so activated you cannot reason, not so shut down you cannot act. It is trained through the body first: breath, movement, sleep and safety, rather than through insight.

What to do about it

Lengthen your exhale beyond your inhale for two minutes. The body leads the mind, not the reverse.
