Identity reconstruction
how to reinvent yourself
Identity reconstruction is deliberately rebuilding who you are after a period that dismantled the previous version — a divorce, an addiction, a collapse. It works forwards through behaviour rather than backwards through recovering the old self, which no longer fits.
What to do about it
Choose one behaviour the new version does daily, and do it before you feel like that person.

How people say it
Nobody looks this up by its clinical name. These are the ways it actually gets said.
- I do not know who I am anymore
- rebuilding my life from scratch
- who am I without them
- starting over at 40
- lost myself completely
- how to reinvent yourself
- I want to become a different person
