Decision fatigue · also called ego depletion
why do I cave in the evening
Decision fatigue is the decline in decision quality after a long sequence of choices. Later decisions become more impulsive or more avoidant, not because willpower is a fuel that empties, but because the cost of deliberating starts to outweigh its perceived value.
What to do about it
Decide once, in advance, and remove the choice from the day entirely.
