Analysis Paralysis · also called research spiral
why can’t I just pick one and move on with it
Analysis paralysis is treating more research as the path to a decision when you already have enough to choose — the real block is fear of being wrong, dressed up as being thorough. Every extra hour of comparing options doesn’t move you closer to certainty; it just delays the moment you have to own an answer.
At some point the next comparison chart isn’t research anymore. It’s just a nicer-looking place to hide.
What to do about it
Write three non-negotiable standards for the decision on paper, then take the first option that clears all three — no revisiting.

How people say it
Nobody looks this up by its clinical name. These are the ways it actually gets said.
- I’ve made fifty pro and con lists and still can’t decide
- I keep researching instead of just choosing
- why can’t I just pick one and move on with it
- I need one more comparison video before I decide
- I’m afraid of picking the wrong one
- more information isn’t helping me decide anything
- I’ve watched every review and I’m still stuck
- analysis paralysis on a decision that shouldn’t be this hard
